Article Badges & Filter Tabs
PinkDocs now makes it easier for readers to spot newly published and recently updated articles using visual badges and smart filter tabs in the sidebar. This improves discoverability, keeps documentation fresh, and helps users quickly find what’s changed.
What are Article Badges?

Article Badges are small visual indicators shown next to article titles in the documentation sidebar:
- 🟢 New — for recently published articles
- 🔵 Updated — for recently modified articles
These badges automatically appear and disappear based on the number of days you configure.
What are Filter Tabs?

At the top of the documentation sidebar, users will see filter tabs:
- All – shows all articles
- New – shows only articles marked as New
- Updated – shows only articles marked as Updated
This allows readers to instantly filter documentation without scrolling.
How to Enable Article Badges

- Go to WordPress Admin → PinkDocs → Settings
- Open General Settings
- Find Article Badges
- Toggle ON to enable badges in the sidebar
Once enabled, additional options will appear.
How Filter Tabs Work on the Frontend
Once Article Badges are enabled:
- Filter tabs automatically appear at the top of the sidebar
- Clicking New shows only new articles
- Clicking Updated shows only updated articles
- All resets the view
✔ No page reloads
✔ Fully responsive
✔ Works seamlessly with nested folders
Badge Logic (Important Notes)
- Badges are calculated automatically using:
- Publish date → for New
- Last updated date → for Updated
- Once the configured day limit is exceeded, the badge is removed automatically
- Articles can appear in New, Updated, or neither (older content)
Best Practices
- Set New to 3–7 days for fast-moving products
- Set Updated slightly higher if you update docs frequently
- Encourage users to check the Updated tab after releases
