AI privacy and data handling
Understand what data PinkDocs AI features send to your AI provider, what stays on your site and how to control it. Use this article to answer your own customers' privacy questions.
What stays on your site
PinkDocs stores this data in your own WordPress database:
- Your docs, categories and settings
- Search terms readers type
- Questions readers ask the AI assistant, for your AI report
- Was this helpful? ratings and comments
- Analytics
What is sent to your AI provider
When a reader asks the AI assistant a question, PinkDocs sends:
| Sent | Not sent |
|---|---|
| The reader's question | The reader's name, email or account details |
| The sections of your published docs that match the question | Drafts, pending or private docs |
| Instructions telling the AI to answer only from those sections | Docs the reader isn't allowed to see |
MCP connections
When you connect PinkDocs to an AI tool through MCP, the tool can read the content your WordPress account can access, including drafts, analytics and feedback. That data is handled under the AI tool's own terms.
Control AI data
Limit which docs the assistant uses
In PinkDocs → Settings → AI, choose which knowledge bases the assistant answers from.
Keep sensitive docs private
Set internal docs to Private or restrict them with access control. The assistant never uses them for readers who can't see them.
Set how long questions are kept
In the AI settings, choose how long reader questions are stored for your reports.

Common questions
No. PinkDocs sends content to your AI provider only to answer each question.
Readers can type anything, so avoid asking for personal data in your greeting or suggested questions.
PinkDocs doesn't send personal account details with questions. Your obligations depend on your AI provider and how you use the assistant, so check your provider's data processing terms.
