Connecting an AI provider
PinkDocs AI features need an AI provider to generate answers and suggestions. Connect a provider by adding your API key in PinkDocs settings.
Before you start
You need:
- An account with a supported AI provider
- An API key from that provider
- Administrator access to your WordPress site
Get an API key
Sign in to your AI provider
Open your AI provider's developer console and sign in or create an account.
Create a key
Open the API keys section and create a new key. Give it a name you'll recognise, such as PinkDocs on yoursite.com.

Copy the key
Copy the key straight away. Most providers only show it once.
Connect the provider to PinkDocs

In WordPress, go to PinkDocs → Settings and open the AI tab.

Paste your key into API key.
Choose a model
Choose the model PinkDocs should use. Faster models cost less and answer quicker. Larger models give more detailed answers.
Save and test
Click Save Changes, then click Test connection. A success message confirms PinkDocs can reach your provider.

Change or remove the key
To change your key, paste the new key into API key and click Save Changes. To turn off AI features, clear the field and save. Your docs and other features keep working.
Common questions
Check that you copied the full key, that it hasn't been deleted in your provider's console and that your provider account has billing set up.
No. PinkDocs only sends the reader's question and the relevant parts of your published docs needed to answer it. See AI privacy and data handling.
